7.35 ct Pakistani Peridot, Oval, No Treatment

The peridot deposit at Sapat in the Kohistan region of Pakistan sits above 4,000 metres and can be worked only in summer. It is known for large, clean crystals with a bright, slightly yellowish green, and this oval is a good example of the material.

Peridot is not treated. This stone is eye clean; under a loupe there are a few of the small disc-shaped inclusions, known as lily pads, that are typical of peridot and confirm it is natural.

At 13.4 × 10.2 mm it suits a pendant or a large ring. Peridot is somewhat softer than quartz and can be sensitive to sudden temperature changes, so ask your jeweller to take care when soldering near the stone.
