Lot of 20 Rainbow Moonstones, 42.60 ct total

Rainbow moonstone is a variety of labradorite feldspar found in eastern India, and it has long been cut in Jaipur. This lot of twenty oval cabochons, from 8 × 6 to 10 × 8 mm, was selected for strong blue flash with rainbow edges across most of the dome.

The stones are untreated. They are slightly included, with the fine black needles typical of the material in some stones; we consider these part of its character, but please expect them.

Twenty cabochons are enough for several pairs of earrings, a set of rings or a bracelet design. Moonstone is fairly soft and has cleavage, so it is best in bezel settings. The lot is sold complete.
