1.62 ct Tsavorite Garnet, Round, No Treatment

Tsavorite is a green grossular garnet found only in a narrow belt along the border of Tanzania and Kenya. Clean stones over one and a half carats are uncommon because the crystals are usually small and fractured. This round has a vivid, slightly yellowish green and the high brilliance that sets tsavorite apart from emerald.

Tsavorite is not treated, and the GIA report confirms a natural grossular garnet with no clarity enhancement. The stone is eye clean; under magnification there are a few short needles.

A 7.1 mm round is a good size for a solitaire ring or stud earring. Tsavorite does not need oil and handles normal wear well, which makes it a practical choice for someone who likes the colour of emerald and wants a stone for everyday use.
