5.18 ct Rhodolite Garnet, Cushion, No Treatment

Rhodolite garnet sits between pyrope and almandine and ranges from purplish red to raspberry. This cushion is at the raspberry end, with a clean purplish red that stays bright rather than turning brown in low light, a common weakness in darker garnets.

Garnet is not treated, and this stone is loupe clean: we could not find an inclusion at 10x. The cut is deep enough to keep the colour saturated but opened up at the pavilion to avoid a dark centre.

At just over ten millimetres it makes a bold cocktail ring or a pendant that is visible from across a room. Rhodolite is durable enough for everyday wear and offers large, clean stones for a modest price.
