2.08 ct Ceylon Blue Sapphire, Oval, Heated

Ceylon sapphires are known for brightness rather than depth, and this oval is a good example: a medium cornflower blue that stays lively in low light instead of turning inky. The colour is evenly distributed with no visible zoning when viewed face-up, and the cut returns light across the whole table.

The stone has been heated, as most sapphires on the market are. Heat intensifies and evens out the blue and the result is permanent. The GIA report records indications of heating only, with no beryllium diffusion or other additives. It is eye clean; a loupe shows a few fine needles near the girdle.

An 8.3 × 6.6 mm oval is a classic engagement-ring size and sits comfortably in platinum or white gold. The pavilion is not overly deep, so the stone will not sit unusually high once set.
