0.92 ct Colombian Emerald, Oval, Minor Oil

Colombian emerald has a warmer, purer green than most other sources, and the finest examples show a slight glow that comes from very low iron content. This oval has that quality. Viewed face-up the colour is an even grass green with no blue or yellow cast, and it holds up well in both daylight and incandescent light.

The GIA report confirms Colombian origin and a minor degree of clarity enhancement with oil. Inclusions are present, as expected in emerald: a three-phase inclusion and a small fingerprint can be seen under magnification. Face-up the stone is bright, and nothing distracts at normal viewing distance.

At just under a carat it is well suited to a solitaire or a three-stone ring. We recommend a protective setting such as a bezel or claws with a low profile, since emerald is more brittle than sapphire or ruby.
