0.86 ct Panjshir Emerald, Pear, Minor Oil

Emeralds from the Panjshir valley in Afghanistan are often mistaken for Colombian stones, and for good reason: both form in similar geological conditions and share a bright, slightly warm green. This pear shows that character well, with lively colour and good transparency.

The stone has minor oil, the lowest level of emerald clarity enhancement, noted on the IGI report. A few small fingerprints and a fine tube are visible under magnification. Face-up the stone is bright, and the inclusions do not break up the colour.

The pear outline is well balanced, with rounded shoulders and a sharp but not fragile point. It suits a pendant or a single drop earring, or a ring with a V-prong protecting the tip. Supply from Panjshir is irregular, so matched pairs are rarely available.
