Madeira citrine is the trade name for the deep reddish orange end of the citrine range, named after the colour of the wine. This heart has that colour: a warm orange with brownish red flashes, darker than the pale yellow citrine seen in most commercial jewellery.

Almost all citrine on the market is heated amethyst or smoky quartz, and this stone is no exception. We state this clearly because some sellers describe heated citrine as natural. The colour is stable and will not fade in normal use. The stone is eye clean.

A well-cut heart needs a clear cleft and matching lobes, and this one is symmetrical with a crisp point. At 16 mm it makes a strong pendant and would also work as the centre of a large ring.
