18.42 ct Zambian Amethyst, Cushion, No Treatment

Zambian amethyst is darker and redder than most Brazilian material, and the best pieces show flashes of red in the purple. This cushion is a good example: a deep, saturated purple that stays rich in daylight and shows raspberry flashes under warm light.

The stone is untreated and eye clean. Large amethyst often has colour zoning, visible as bands of lighter and darker purple; this one is well oriented and the colour looks even face-up.

At almost 18 mm it is a statement piece, suited to a large cocktail ring or a pendant. Amethyst is durable enough for regular wear, but avoid long exposure to strong sunlight, which can fade its colour over years.
